Philosophy and Strategies

Value Statements:

.    PAO values flexibility in providing supports that meet individual needs.

.   PAO values the contributions which all people can make including people served, families and friends, staff, and community members.

.   PAO values a focus on the strengths of all people.

.   PAO values individual choice and the freedom and responsibility to participate in community life.

.   PAO values staff at all levels who have meaningful relationships with the  people they serve.

 

PAO Philosophy:

Personal Assistance Options, Inc. stakeholders include: 1) the people we serve and their families and friends, 2)  our employees who provide the services and perform the functions necessary for organizational success, 3)Board of Director members and volunteers of the organization who contribute to the success of the organization,4) the funding agencies (CMH/CM and DHS), and the community which contributes to and benefits from the successes of the people we serve.

All PAO employees will treat the consumers that we serve as “the boss”.  PAO services are provided that meet the consumers’ expectations and needs, that are at the convenience of the people served, and that are flexible for any circumstances that may arise. 

Community participation, community contributions and community building are important in the success of PAO services.

Employee selection processes and employee policies are in place that lead to motivated and fulfilled employees with the knowledge, skills and attitude that are consistent with PAO values and philosophy.

 

PAO Strategies

·        Provide the people that we serve with choices and a voice in selecting and retaining the people who work for them

·        Work with closely stakeholders and partners to help the people we serve to achieve their goals and dreams

·        Employ a personnel selection process and implement employment policies that lead to motivated, capable and fulfilled employees with the skills and attitudes that meet stakeholders expectations

·        Select and retain employees that are interested in and capable of helping people with disabilities; carry out an annual review for all employees to provide them with feedback on their performance

·        Evaluate PAO performance against stakeholders’ expectations at least once a year and make improvements based on feedback

·        Work with funding agencies and the community to provide adequate funding for the people we serve and for PAO
