PAO is allocated a non-negotiable amount of funding from Community Mental Health for Central Michigan (CMHCM) and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). The amount they can allocate to us is determined by their funding by the Michigan Medicaid program.
PAO is also supported by the generous donations of individuals, businesses and foundations in the Midland community. Without these donations, PAO would not be able to provide the best service possible to the individuals we support.
A donation made to Personal Assistance Options Inc. or the Consumer Needs and Dreams Endowment Fund may be deductible as a charitable gift for federal income tax purposes. Your charitable gift may qualify for the maximum tax advantage under federal law.
As a non-profit organization, PAO accepts donations in several forms. Financial donations are accepted to help us with our daily operation. We also accept material donations based on the needs listed on our wish list.
To donate via check, print a donation form.

PAO has created an endowment fund through the Midland Area Community Foundation with the purpose of fulfilling consumers’ needs and dreams.
This endowment provides those we support with the opportunity to apply for funds toward something they would otherwise have to do without. A PAO supported individual may need special equipment for his/her wheelchair or dream of seeing a Tigers baseball game once in his/her life.
All applications are reviewed by a committee that determines:
- Appropriateness of the request
- Other sources that could potentially fulfill request
